Poem: Words Can't Express

Words Can’t Express

If I had known:
I would have turned around,
Changed my mind,
Opened another door,
Faced another direction.

If I had known:
The heartache would be gone,
Regrets unimagined,
Guilt subdued,
Emotions quelled.

If I had known:
I would have spoken differently,
Had other thoughts,
Dreamt new visions,
Seen with a new heart.

If I had known:
I’d have held your hand more,
Embraced you frequently,
Listened incessantly,
Laughed more often.

If I had known...
Only if I had known.
